A pregnant Florida woman was saved from a carjacking when a retired military officer jumped up to grab the suspect and held him until police arrived.
Shane Spicer spotted “convicted career criminal” Michael Prouty, 39, in a high-speed chase with police and allegedly running toward the unidentified woman’s car in a Starbucks drive-through.
Once Spicer realized what was happening, dashcam footage shows the retired officer jumping into the passenger seat of the woman’s car and pulling him out.
“He didn’t look like a Starbucks coffee drinker,” Spicer said.
Footage shows the Army veteran holding Prouty in a vice-like grip as Ocala Police Department officers arrived on the scene.
Prouty has a criminal record dating back to 2000 and includes 13 felony convictions.

Prouty allegedly broke into someone’s house and stole their car, which he then crashed at a busy intersection and started running to the drive-through.
Spicer said Fox35: ‘Just started the day, had been awake for maybe 20 to 25 minutes. I live about a mile from that Starbucks.
“He sprinted to Starbucks and he didn’t look like a Starbucks coffee drinker.”
When he saw Prouty running, Spicer thought, “I’m going to get you, buddy!” You’re not going anywhere now! You’ve crossed the line!’
The Army veteran further told the station, “I feel like if you have the ability to look out for someone, you should.
“I just hope someone would do the same for my family.”
