CCTV has been published of the horrible moment in which a man tried to knock down his partner inside a McDonald’s.

The woman recalled in Campbelltown District Court this week how their relationship soured before Abbas Hayder Al-Khafaji tried to run her over with his car in February last year at a McDonald’s in Narellan.

The woman, whose legal name cannot be identified, said she remained faithful to Al-Khafaji despite his recreational use of cannabis in the hope that they could turn their seven-year relationship around.

She said that in the end he became possessive, paranoid and aggressive towards her and told the court that she knew “leaving this relationship was not going to be without explosive repercussions”.

A judge has released disturbing footage of Abbas Hayder Al-Khafaji trying to tackle his partner outside a Narellan McDonalds before threatening her and a staff member with a knife.

“Time and longevity in this relationship have shown me that Abbas is relentless in pursuing what he wants and who wants it,” the woman told the court on Thursday.

Leaving this relationship was not going to be without explosive repercussions.

On Friday, the judge released terrifying video of the gruesome attack as an example of the rise in violent and life-threatening crime.

The footage shows Al-Khafaji’s SUV driving through the McDonald’s store as his partner flees inside, knocking over two bollards, smashing glass and blowing up tables.

As the terrified woman flees into the kitchen, Al-Khafaji is seen pulling a knife from his car and threatening her and a McDonald’s employee.

‘Fuck you… I’m going to kill you,’ he allegedly told the victim.

He confronts her several times, waving his arms at her and threatening a clerk before angrily pacing through the store.

He then returned to his car, backed out of the store, and drove off.

The footage shows Al-Khafaji’s car driving through the front of the McDonald’s store breaking glass and blowing up tables. As the victim runs into the kitchen, Al-Khafaji is seen pulling a knife from her car and threatening her and a McDonald’s employee.

Court documents reveal that the victim had agreed that he would stab her during the terrifying rampage.

Months later, while in prison, he called her despite the fact that an AVO against him did not contact her.

The phone recordings reveal that she said: ‘You shouldn’t be talking to me, you tried to kill me’, to which he replied: ‘Weren’t you happy that I did that because it shows that I take you seriously?’

Al-Khafaji pleaded guilty to using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offense, destroying or damaging property between $5,000 and $15,000 worth, and violating the terms of an AVO.

He remains in custody and will be sentenced on May 12, where he could face up to 12 years behind bars.
