Mom-of-three who went viral for screeching at ‘scary clown’ in her driveway dies of cancer aged 44 – as she’s remembered for her ‘famous scream that spread joy all over the world’

It was the scream heard around the world – or at least nearby – when a mother of three got the fright of her life after spotting a ‘scary clown’ out of the corner of her eye.

Sadly, the New Jersey woman who was part of the hilarious viral video in 2022 has passed away after losing her battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Cheryl Granito, of Denville, was a teacher who died last month at the age of 44, leaving behind three young daughters: 12-year-old Harper, Kayla, 7, and Ellie, who is 4. She is also survived by her husband, 56-year-old Mark.

The red-haired, curly-haired man featured in the clip, which has been viewed more than 500 million times, is now trying to raise money for the grieving family, with nearly $40,000 raised so far in a GoFundMe.

‘I’m the man who comes to pick something up from her. I personally donated $4,000 to GoFundMe. Her famous scream spread joy around the world,” 20-year-old Brayden Krupiarz told DailyMail.com.

One second GoFundMe was founded by the family in March and raised $56,000.

The video became so popular that Krupiarz even started an Instagram account dedicated to the encounter, complete with the handle “driveway.dude.”

The original video starts innocently enough with Granito seen talking to a neighbor along with another woman and one of her children.

She looks calm and relaxed on a summer day, when you suddenly see Krupiarz moving up the ramp towards her.

Granito became known for her powerful scream after she was alarmed by the presence of 20-year-old Brayden Krupiarz, who walked into the driveway behind her.

Granito was so engrossed in the conversation that she didn’t notice the young man walking quietly behind her.

The camera in the driveway captures his long, curly red hair and his mirrored sunglasses.

What may have been an innocent look was seen as ‘creepy clown-like’ by Granito, who lets out a deafeningly loud scream that lasts for several seconds.

The scream in turn also alarms her children, who jump back in fright.

“Holy shit!” Granito shouts.

Krupiarz seems to have earned his 15 minutes of fame with the brief encounter in which he appears in the same attire in all his subsequent videos

Krupiarz can be heard apologizing and explaining that he was just stopping by to pick something up. It is understood that a package from him had been delivered to her address.

The video still brings laughs even years after its initial upload.

Cheryl Granito, who worked as a special education teacher at Lakeview Elementary School, was diagnosed with cancer in 2019.

After her death, Krupiarz wrote on his page: “I am so incredibly saddened to tell you all that the woman with the scream heard around the world has passed away.

“Cheryl was a wonderful mother and had become a wonderful friend. Please share and donate.”
