Mom-of-three, 32, hits back at trolls who accused her of cheating weight loss side effect with skin smoothing clothing

A mother-of-three has taken revenge on cruel trolls who accused her of ‘catfishing’ for wearing shapewear to hide her loose skin – after losing a whopping 94lbs.

LA-based Kelsey often keeps her 122,200 followers updated on her weight loss and health, including her battle with polycystic ovary syndrome.

The 32-year-old lost a whopping 94 pounds in the past 12 months after being prescribed mounjaro, a drug similar to Ozempic, which stimulates hormones such as insulin and glucagon, which reduce hunger, reduce food intake and make users feel fuller.

Although Kelsey, who works in human healthcare, loves the way she looks now, she admits that such a dramatic weight loss can leave you with a lot of unwanted skin.

She often smooths out loose skin with shapewear – much to the chagrin of internet trolls who accuse her of catfishing.

“I have a lot of loose skin,” says the content creator admitted in a video address the comments. ‘Most of it is on my stomach, but I use shapewear.’

Kelsey then demonstrated what she looks like without the shapewear, saying she’s super “self-conscious” about it, so the underwear helps.

“Spoiler alert: I wear shapewear because I look good and feel good, and I don’t do that for you, boo!” Kelsey wrote in the clip’s caption, in response to a comment she often receives: “shapewear is catfishing.”

Kelsey’s weight problems first started at school, when she started noticing she was bigger than other girls in her year when she was about 10 years old, and said it was the start of a life of self-doubt, self-consciousness and cruel taunts.

“I was told by a cheerleading coach to ‘suck my dinner’ in our short cheer uniforms, and that’s really what started the downward spiral of my self-esteem,” Kelsey recalls.

“A seventh-grade boy called me chubby to my face,” she continued. “I remember what I was wearing because I went home and threw it away.”

Although she wasn’t considered overweight in high school, Kelsey gained weight after finishing school, going from 160 pounds to about 200 pounds.

With the weight gain came an onslaught of health problems, including facial hair growth, acne, ovarian cysts and erratic menstrual cycles.

Years later, Kelsey discovered that her symptoms were due to PCOS, but as a young adult she managed to eat a lot of sweets, with sugary foods becoming her favorite comfort foods.

But the indulgence caused her weight to balloon to a heaviest point of 256 pounds, and she found herself constantly worrying about everyday tasks like shopping.

‘I felt trapped. I was constantly self-conscious. Everywhere I went, I always looked at how others looked at me, even in the supermarket,” she recalls.

“My mental health was struggling significantly,” she added.

‘My physical health was also struggling. I couldn’t find a doctor who wanted to help me manage my PCOS and insulin resistance.’

Doctors kept telling Kelsey to eat less and exercise more, but claimed they never took the time to really understand what the problem was.

Finally, the mother of three found a doctor who was willing to listen and help.

She lost 95 pounds in just 12 months using a customized diet and exercise plan, and was also prescribed a GLP1 drug, a type of drug used to treat type 2 diabetes and sometimes obesity.

Kelsey, who recently started working part-time so she could spend more time at home with her kids, says her life has completely changed – and she’s loving living in her new body.

“My home life is great,” she said. ‘I’m enjoying spending a lot more time outdoors with my children.’

Kelsey added that her 11-year marriage to her high school sweetheart is also “thriving.”

The active woman, who only started posting on TikTok a year ago to keep herself accountable during her weight-loss journey, says she doesn’t restrict what she eats and instead just eats in moderation.

“Restrictive dieting doesn’t work for me in the long run,” she explained. ‘Instead, I eat everything in moderation, always eat fruit or vegetables with every meal and treat myself to something tasty a few times a week.’

She added: ‘I work out three times a week, mainly cardio, such as running, walking and hiking.’

Kelsey has also inspired people on their own weight loss journeys, especially for women dealing with PCOS.

‘You inspire so many! Stay yourself!’ one user gushed over a TikTok video.

“You’re definitely the reason I started,” another agreed. “I’ve only lost 20 pounds since March on Ozempic, but I’m not giving up!”
