Young mom sparks fury by going to Disney without her kids
A young mother faces a flood of criticism after bragging about a vacation to Disney World without her kids.
Madalyn Jade Monaghan, 30, known on Instagram as Maddie’s Mickey Magic, is a content creator and self-described Disney and Universal travel specialist.
On August 10, she posted a video of herself crying and hugging her son, captioned, “When you feel guilty as a mom because you go to Disneyland without the kids.”
The video then cuts to a clip of Monaghan dancing and sipping a cocktail while wearing Minnie Mouse ears. The caption reads: “But then you’ll remember why you booked a trip without the kids.”
The post received mixed reactions online, with some critics questioning Monaghan’s decision to abandon her children.

“Who leave their children at home to hang out with thousands of other children,” someone wrote.
“Just let the kids go to a family destination surrounded by other kids, ugh, weird,” wrote another.
Others defended Monaghan’s choice, saying she should be allowed to make the trip however she wants.
“Get it girl. Hope you had fun,” said one supporter.
“I’m a firm believer in making memories with your kids, but you also need to have vacations without them. They’ll grow up one day and have their own vacations. And traveling with kids is expensive and emotionally and physically taxing, so it never feels like a vacation,” wrote another.
Monaghan justified her solo trip in another video by saying her kids have been to Disneyland hundreds of times and that her vacation was a business trip.

She said she went on roller coasters that her children were too young to ride and drank more alcohol than she would have if her children had been there.
“I work as a travel agent for Disney, so while I had fun and played, this was also a business trip,” she said.
‘Not to mention it’s August, it’s hot. Not a time of year I would normally recommend for little ones.
‘I did all this to better serve my clients and their families during their holidays.’
