Molly Meldrum appears in good spirits when he makes a rare public appearance while paying tribute to Tina Arena on This Is Your Life – after a horrific accident forced him to fight for his life

Molly Meldrum made a rare public appearance on Monday’s episode of This Is Your Life.

The music legend, 79, appeared in good spirits despite having some difficulty speaking in a pre-recorded video tribute to the evening’s guest of honor, Tina Arena.

‘Hi Tina! It’s your friend, boring old Molly,” the former Countdown host said in the short clip.

“Oh my god, I’m not leaving you alone, Tina. You and I have been friends for a long time,” he continued.

Molly then joked about the parties the couple attended, joking, “I don’t say a word, everyone behaved… Bulls**t!”

“Do yourself a favor and have a nice evening,” he concluded.

Molly joked about the parties the couple attended and joked,

‘There is someone who has really given a lot to the arts in this country. He was always incredibly helpful, an extraordinary man.’

Molly has rarely been seen in public since his horrific fall at home in December 2011.

The beloved TV icon suffered a fractured skull, brain swelling, fractured shoulder and ribs and fractured vertebrae in the accident.

He spent five weeks in a coma in intensive care and fought for his life, but somehow managed to get through and recover.

The former Countdown presenter later admitted the accident had forced him to admit he is not “bulletproof.”

“You realize life is short,” he said New idea magazine in July last year.

“I’ve been very lucky to have a lot of great people looking after me at the time of the accident and after, that was a real godsend.

‘I also learned a lot from the patients in the hospital. It was humbling to hear their stories, the hardships they endured.”
