Molly-Mae Hague hits back at ‘painful’ accusations her split from Tommy Fury was a ‘publicity stunt’ amid boxer’s confession the couple’s breakup was sparked by his alcohol demons

Molly-Mae Haag has denied her split from Tommy Fury was a ‘publicity stunt’, admitting it would have been easier if the ‘painful’ allegations were true.

The 25-year-old influencer faced a backlash from fans after she and ex-fiance Tommy were filmed sharing a passionate kiss on New Year’s Eve ahead of the launch of her three-part Prime Video series, with doubters claiming their breakup was staged had been set.

But Molly has opened up about the “turmoil” of enduring their split on a public scale, saying the demise of their five-year romance was “very, very real.”

The former Love Island star admits the couple are now working through their issues following Tommy’s shocking admission that he ‘became addicted to alcohol’.

Molly, who shares two-year-old daughter Bambi with the boxer, said her biggest “frustration” was that their split in August was being questioned by skeptics, while much more was happening behind the scenes.

Speaking at The Londoner Hotel on Thursday ahead of the release of Behind It All, Molly said: ‘I actually say in the documentary that I wish it was a publicity stunt because it would have been a lot easier… That’s more important than anything for me. was the most frustrating part.

‘Cause it’s been incredibly hard to get through all of this with the turmoil of a breakup.

“To get those reactions and I see the reactions, I see them all, and people saying ‘this was clearly just done for her brand launch or a publicity stunt’, it’s very painful to read because it’s real.

‘Tommy and I have a baby together and it’s very, very real. It’s very difficult what we’ve both been through in the last six months.

‘I wish it was a publicity stunt because it would have been a lot easier, but that’s not the case, and I think this documentary will clear up any questions about that.

‘You see the real side of it; it’s like being a fly on the wall and I think people will be quite surprised by how honest we’ve been.”

After the exes kissed at a New Year’s Eve party, Tommy was also photographed leaving Molly’s home in Cheshire early in the morning, sparking reports that the pair had rekindled their relationship.

And Molly admits they are trying to “manage” a “complicated” situation while putting their young child’s needs first.

She said: “We are navigating a very complicated time in our lives, in front of the public. This is completely new territory for me. I’ve never really had to… Tommy and I’s relationship has always been in the public eye, but dealing with this breakup, with millions of eyes watching you, is difficult and complicated.

“The reason why I don’t comment on it or talk about it on my YouTube or in public is because we’re just both navigating it ourselves, we’re dealing with it as adults and as parents.”

Molly confirmed the couple’s kiss, which took place at Manchester United star Luke Shaw’s Hogmanay party in Cheshire, will be featured in her series as she hopes delving into the intimate details of her life will help to dispel further doubts.

She continued, “We’re doing our best, but I really think the documentary is going to answer a lot of questions. We will delve deeper into that situation. You can see a small fragment in the trailer…

“The last thing I ever want is any confusion, I don’t want people to feel confused by the things that are going on. We try to explain things as best as possible. When I agreed to do this documentary, I said I did it completely, the highs, the lows, the good days, the bad days, it has to be all there.”

There have indeed been difficult times when Molly has resisted sharing with her large following, out of respect for Tommy, who she fell in love with on Love Island in 2019.

On Wednesday, Tommy admitted he had become dependent on alcohol after a boxing injury, which resulted in a dramatic decline in his mental health.

Speaking to Men’s Health, he said: ‘The reason Molly and I broke up was because I became addicted to alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner I wanted to be anymore.’

‘It pains me to say it, but it’s true, I couldn’t do it. I liked a beer, liked to drink, and it is what it is. People go through difficult things in life and we all have our crosses to bear. I have mine to bear.”

For the past six months, Molly has been followed by a camera crew who have captured every moment of her life.

The star was filmed during her most vulnerable moments when she and Tommy split and during the launch of her fashion brand Maebe, while solo parenting daughter Bambi.

And she insists that while it plays a major role in the show, Behind It All offers much more than documenting her breakup for the small screen.

She said: “It’s definitely so much more than a breakup documentary.

‘Of course we talk about the breakup, we discuss the breakup and we are very honest in what we share about the breakup.

‘But it’s so much more than a break-up documentary, it focuses on parts of my life that I haven’t delved into before, like right now we’re still filming but we’ll talk a lot in the next three episodes , we touch on motherhood, body confidence, running my two businesses, and doing all that while having a two-year-old and navigating it after a breakup has been a very challenging time.”

Molly-Mae: Behind It All launches this Friday with three episodes on Prime Video, with three more airing in the spring.

The YouTuber, whose vlogs rack up millions of views, is already anticipating a negative reaction to some scenes and predicts trolls will post harsh comments online.

But it’s nothing she hasn’t tolerated before, with Molly saying she’s finally ready to show her audience the woman behind the impeccable Instagram posts.

She said: ‘Amazon has been releasing little snippets and teasers and I’ve already read the comments.

‘I think it’s about time I got thick skin, I have thick skin, but this morning I was already looking at some of the comments and I think there’s already a huge mix of opinions on some of the things I’ve seen.

“I own it, these three episodes are what they are, and I hope people enjoy them.”
