Moldovan international Violeta Mitul has died in a tragic accident at the age of 26.
UEFA has announced this that Mitul died earlier this week after an accident during a mountain walk with teammates from her club Einherji.
The left back died after an accidental fall from a cliff in the harbor area at Vopnafjordur.
After her international debut in 2017, Mitul played 41 matches for her country.
Before joining Einherji earlier this year, Mitul played for clubs such as FF La Solana, Apulia Trani and WFC Voskhod.

The Moldovan FA said Mitul was “one of the best players of the women’s national team.”
Earlier in her career, Mitul won the Moldovan and Romanian Cup with Alga Tiraspol and Vasas Femina.
In a statement from Einherji, Mitul was described as ‘kind, energetic and an exemplary footballer’.
