Mojang announces plans to drop Minecraft PSVR support next year

Mojang Studios has announced that Minecraft will no longer support PlayStation VR next year.

Hidden in the latest Minecraft patch notesthe developer confirmed that starting in March 2025, updates will no longer apply to the PSVR version of the game (via VGC).

“Our support for PlayStation VR has ended and will no longer be supported in updates after March 2025,” Mojang said.

“After receiving the latest update, you will continue to receive updates on your PlayStation and can play without PlayStation VR.”

Mojang continues, saying that users will still be able to play and build in their saved worlds and that purchases through the Marketplace, including tokens, will still be available.

However, players will no longer be able to use their PlayStation VR with Minecraft “because it is no longer supported in the latest updates.”

It also appears that the studio Minecraft VR Webpage because now an error message appears when you navigate to it.

Last week, Mojang confirmed that it is currently working on a native PS5 version of Minecraftbut it’s unclear if there are plans to port the popular survival sandbox game to the PlayStation VR2.

Additionally, Minecraft will receive new content more frequently in the future, instead of one free update in the summer.

Instead, there will be “a number of free games released throughout the year”, with Mojang confirming that it will now focus on “long-term initiatives to ensure we can continue to evolve”. Minecraft “far into the future”.
