Moises Caicedo’s former Ecuadorian club is set to collect £22 million from the Brighton star’s £110 million transfer to Liverpool, according to reports.
Liverpool look set to lure rivals Chelsea to the midfielder’s signature after a British record bid has been accepted by the Seagulls, despite the Blues turning down four bids for him, as reported by Mail Sport.
And as Liverpool prepare to strike a mega deal for Caicedo – which will become the sixth highest in history after Jurgen Klopp confirmed the deal was agreed – it seems it’s not just Brighton that will benefit from the lucrative fee.
Independiente del Valle – for whom the player played between 2016 and 2021 – would collect around $28m (£22m) after they negotiated a 20 per cent future resale clause when they sold him to Brighton for £4.5m, according to Ole.
The publication calls the incredible company one of the best in Ecuadorian football history, with Independiente chief Michael Deller revealing the details of the amount they could receive and claiming that the club would use the money to build a new training center in the name of the player.

“If Moisés Caicedo (is sold), the percentage Independiente (could receive) for this sale, we have decided to put that money into a trust, and it can only be used for the lower leagues,” Deller is said to have said.
‘We want to invest in that, that money is important and it is used for our children. When Moises Caicedo was here, I talked to him and told him about this idea, he was happy.
‘We are going to build a High Performance Center in Santo Domingo that will bear the name Caicedo.
“We are very happy with Caicedo, he is such a great boy and it is good that God blesses him. Besides, he’s a fantastic player.”
It is also claimed that his former youth side Espoli, who discovered him in 2014, is set to rake in $6.3m (£5m) following a 5 per cent future resale clause.

It came after news that Liverpool had sensationally hijacked Chelsea’s bid for Caicedo on Thursday night following a transfer saga that has dragged on all summer.
The Seagulls maintained their appreciation for Caicedo throughout the summer, fending off several attempts from Chelsea, then set a deadline for an inter-club auction at midnight on Thursday.
And Liverpool went over the asking price, which was set at £105 million based on Declan Rice’s transfer earlier this summer. Tony Bloom would have refused to sell for anything below that price.
Personal terms are yet to be agreed, but should be a formality. Caicedo and his agent were in West London last night awaiting developments in the bidding war.
Liverpool will probably pay Caicedo more wages than Chelsea had offered.
