Mohammed Krayem bashed in jail after charged with rape in Sydney’s west

A trafficker imprisoned for rape was beaten up by three fellow inmates after a guard ‘leaked’ what he had been accused of.

Mohammed ‘Moey’ Krayem, 24, was sentenced last Friday to up to 17 months behind bars in Sydney’s Downing Center Court.

He joins his ex-fiancé, Monica Young, in prison – with the geography teacher locked up separately for seducing a 14-year-old boy at her school.

Krayem, a road worker, had pleaded guilty to three counts of unauthorized sexual intercourse after raping a 19-year-old in a car park in Chullora, western Sydney, in August 2020.

The court heard that the now 24-year-old had consensual sex with the young woman after the pair arranged to meet via Snapchat.

At a court hearing last week, Krayem revealed he was assaulted by three other inmates while in custody at Bathurst Correctional Center in April.

He claimed food was stolen from his cell and claimed a guard “leaked” his intercourse without consent.

The attack related to both the stolen food and the fact that he had been charged with rape, Krayem claimed when he appeared in court via video link on Friday.

He was left with three stitches under one of his eyebrows and a concussion.

A NSW Corrective Services spokesperson said the attack did indeed take place, but could not confirm whether a guard was involved in any way. Daily Mail Australia understands that prisoners can find out other prisoners’ charges through newspapers they have access to.

At the hearing, Krayem also spoke about his past addiction to cocaine, revealing that he would use the drug three to four times a week.

The addiction got so bad that he ended up in the hospital after a night of use, but is now eight months sober.

“All drugs are a disaster, they ruin your life,” he said.

Young and Krayem were childhood sweethearts and were engaged to be married when she first had sex with the 14-year-old boy on June 24, 2020.

He first started dating Young when he was 15 and in Year 10, and she was a year and a half older and in Year 12.

Judge Peter Berman SC asked Krayem if he understood Young having sex with him at a time when he was legally considered a child.

Krayem said he only understood that after taking consent courses following his rape conviction.

Young had sex with her 14-year-old student several times.

Seven weeks after Young’s last sexual encounter with the boy, Krayem lured his victim into the mall parking lot, where he then raped her.

When the allegations first emerged, Krayem had stood by his girlfriend for six years.

In the days after Young pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child, Krayem posted a “message to the haters” on his Facebook page dedicated to Young.

He uploaded a video of him kissing her on the cheek, captioning it as “my always and forever,” before posting a separate photo of Young adorned with a love heart.

Krayem had split with Young at the time, but told Daily Mail Australia at the time, “I’m going to be by her side no matter what the outcome is. I’ll always be next to her.’

During his sentencing on Friday, Krayem said he cut off all contact with Young after she pleaded guilty.

“I supported her during the first week in custody as a supportive fiancée, but once the facts came out I realized the allegations against her were the truth,” he said.

‘She had denied it. It was blinding, she never told me the truth, how could she?

“I was with her for several years, it was devastating and my family was good to her. It was nauseating.’

Young and the boy had sex several times, including at least twice on school grounds and once in her car in a park.

She received a prison sentence of up to four years and nine months in July 2021. She will be eligible for parole on October 31 of this year.

Judge Berman said Krayem’s jail term would be retroactively extended to February 12 this year.

Taking into account the time already spent, Krayem could be paroled on October 20 this year – just 11 days before his ex.
