Mohamed Salah says he is disappointed with Liverpool’s powers-that-be as he reveals he has not yet received any offers to stay at the club and is ‘more out than in’.

The Egyptian’s contract expires at the end of this season and Salah says ‘there is no club like’ Liverpool.

But speaking to a small selection of reporters after Sunday’s win over Southampton, Salah said: ‘We are almost in December and I have not yet received any offers to stay at the club. I’m probably outside more than inside.

‘You know I’ve been at the club for years. There is no club like this. But ultimately it’s out of my hands. Like I said, it’s December and I haven’t received anything about my future yet.

‘I love the fans. The fans love me. Ultimately it is not in my hands, nor in the hands of the fans.’

Asked if he was disappointed with the lack of progress, Salah replied: “Of course, yes. I’m not retiring anytime soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League too. I’m disappointed, but we’ll see.

‘I am very professional. Everyone can see my work ethic. I’m just trying to enjoy my football and continue playing at the highest level for as long as possible.’

Mailsport understands Liverpool have contacted Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas about the contract and senior Anfield sources have suggested these talks have been positive.

Salah, Liverpool’s biggest earner, has not spoken to written reporters in the mixed zone for five years. At St Mary’s he personally pointed to some journalists and asked to speak to them, clearly intending to dismiss his feelings.

The 32-year-old also grinned when quizzed about previous interest from Saudi Arabia.

He has already scored 12 goals this season and registered a further 10 assists, including two strikes on Sunday that turned the game on its head and put Liverpool eight points ahead.

Fellow star men Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will also see their contracts expire next summer and neither have signed a new contract yet.
