Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 release date has been revealed and it has now been confirmed that this will be the Duty title released in 2023. So far, we’ve seen glimpses of gameplay and received details about a new type of mission that players can take on at launch.

Although it is somewhat surprising that Duty releases two Modern warfare titles in a row, it seems like this year’s entry could be a slightly different kind of release. Now that a full reveal has taken place, we can really dive into what Call of Duty has to offer this year.

Modern Warfare 3 Release Date (2023).
The Modern Warfare 3 release date is November 10, 2023. This is a pretty standard release date for a Call of Duty game, considering last year’s Modern Warfare 2 release just two weeks earlier, in the same window. In general, Duty doesn’t have to worry too much about the competition, as it’s basically guaranteed to be one of the best-selling games of the year anyway.
You will be able to play Modern Warfare 3 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox One when it releases.
Modern Warfare 3 (2023) story and setting
Modern Warfare 3 is pitched as an even darker game than its predecessor. At the end of the last game we were treated to a teaser for what was to come, and all signs point towards Makarov. Vladimir Makarov was the secret big bad in the original Modern warfare game, that was technically Call of Duty 4. Later in the series he was also involved in the iconic ‘No Russian’ mission. This mission was also referenced in the 2022 post-credits scene Modern Warfare 2.
Makarov appears in the teaser trailer for Modern Warfare 3 (2023), and there’s a voiceover from Price warning that “you should never bury your enemies alive.” As far as we know, it’s clear that the team will face Makarov, although we don’t know the details yet. Things will likely pick up where the last game left off, but we’ll have to wait and see if we get remakes of a classic Modern Warfare 3 moments from the original game. Of course, this is a rebooted timeline, so anything could happen to Price and crew.
Modern Warfare 3 Trailers
The latest trailer that has been shown off Modern Warfare 3 came as part of Gamescom Opening Live 2023. We were treated to a full walkthrough for a campaign mission called ‘Operation 627’. In it, the player infiltrates a prison, scaling the walls before finally blowing open a cell to rescue an unknown agent. It is very likely that this is Makarov.

Modern Warfare 3 (2023) gameplay
In terms of gameplay Modern Warfare 3 makes some changes to both the movement and the HUD. For starters, the classic mini-map is back, with red dot enemy indicators. There is also voting on the card, as well as perks available at the start of each match. Time to kill has been increased, with core health now at 150. This is more in line with older games, so hopefully fans will notice the difference fairly quickly.
The movement is being redesigned, with slide cancellation available again. However, this will not reset Tactical Sprint. Reload animations can be canceled so players can fire their remaining bullets in a last-ditch effort to stay alive. The tactical sprint also takes longer and it charges while sprinting.
The campaign will feature a series of story-based missions that continue the story of Price and the team. In addition, there are Open Combat Missions, which give players choices on how to complete them. a recent blog post on the official Modern Warfare 3 website explains:
“For example, if you prefer to use stealth techniques, you may want to undertake an OCM with a ‘lights-out’ approach, using night vision goggles and suppressed weapons and completing your objectives without your adversaries knowing you were even there. Loud explosions and reckless abandon are part of your repertoire, strap extra armor plates to your torso and hit those targets head-on!”

Modern Warfare 3 was fully revealed during a War zone 2 event. This took place on August 17 and was called Shadow Siege. Players were tasked to infiltrate the observatory in Al Mazrah, where they had to deploy with chemical weapons canisters.
