Mohamed Salah has provided an update on his contract situation at Liverpool as he nears the end of his contract.
The 32-year-old has not yet put pen to paper on a new contract, as his current contract expires in the summer of 2025.
He contributed to Liverpool’s 5-0 defeat by West Ham on Sunday by scoring his seventeenth league goal of the season and providing two assists.
Salah has now scored 30 goals in just 18 league games this season after another stellar performance extended the Reds’ lead at the top of the table.
After 18 games played, Arne Slot’s side are eight points ahead of second-placed Nottingham Forest with a game in hand, and nine points ahead of Arsenal below them.
After Sunday’s match, Salah revealed that negotiations are ‘far’ from positive at the moment and stressed that he is solely focused on Liverpool’s objectives on the pitch this season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk’s deals also expire in the summer of 2025
“No, we are a long way from that,” Salah told Sky Sports when asked if there have been any positive updates on the situation.
‘I don’t want to put something in the media and people start saying things, but actually nothing [has] continued.
‘But for now I’m concentrating on the team and hopefully we win the Premier League.
‘I will do my best to help the team win the trophy. There are a few other teams that are overtaking us and we have to stay focused and humble and go again.
‘I just try to enjoy the game. Ultimately, I came here for the result and I wanted to do something in the game, but I’m almost hungry for more.”
The Egyptian sent the Reds fanbase into an uproar last month when he claimed he had not been contacted about a new deal.
Since then, Salah has remained cautious with his words on the situation, recently refusing to reveal the current state of negotiations when asked on Boxing Day.
‘I want to tell you [the fans] Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” Salah told Amazon Prime on Thursday. “And I’ll see them here in the next game.”
