MLS announcer Taylor Twellman ‘pulled from Apple TV booth over shock complaint from audio engineer’

Former U.S. national soccer team star and current broadcaster Taylor Twellman is reportedly being investigated by the MLS over allegations of a physical altercation between himself and a production assistant a month earlier.

As first reported by The AthleticsThe incident reportedly involved Twellman and an audio engineer from Program Productions – a Miami-based production house – during an Eastern Conference quarter-final match between Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and Atlanta United on October 25.

In a match plagued by audio problems on the Apple TV broadcast, Twellman allegedly made physical contact with the audio engineer.

Twellman has since called Game 2 of the series, but was noticeably absent for Game 3 last weekend. According to The Athletic, the production assistant filed a complaint with the union over the alleged Oct. 25 incident between Games 2 and 3 of the series. Ultimately, color commentator Danny Higginbotham replaced Twellman in the third game.

Neither MLS spokespersons nor Program Productions staff immediately responded to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

No video of the incident exists, and while NFL broadcast booths are typically equipped with cameras, Apple TV has declined to do so for MLS games.

Despite the allegations, Twellman continues to host a Western Conference semifinal between LAFC and the Seattle Sounders on November 23.

Twellman declined to comment to The Athletic.

Twellman, 44, a former Golden Boot winner with the New England Revolution and one of the first true MLS stars, has been one of the league’s top announcers since his retirement in 2010.

From 2011 to early 2023, he was ESPN’s top football analyst and even did his own recap on ESPN+ for the network’s broadcast.
