According to local reports, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres’ MLB season opener in Seoul was the target of a bomb threat.
Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers will play their California neighbors early Wednesday in the first game of the new season in the South Korean capital.
But according to local media reports, in the hours before the match, police received an email from someone threatening to bomb the Gocheok Sky Dome.
The threat, written in English, was emailed to an official at the South Korean Consulate General in Vancouver, Canada, and said the sender was a Japanese lawyer, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.
Police had sent special operations officers to carry out checks at the stadium, but no sign of an explosive device was detected, police said.
