The 2024 MLB London Series took place this weekend and it wasn’t just the baseball on display that had fans talking at London Stadium.

The home of West Ham underwent a dramatic 18-day transformation from football to baseball in time for last weekend’s showcase.

The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies drew the two-game series, with a total of 108,956 fans in attendance.

The MLB gave fans in England a taste of America with two-foot-long hot dogs and baseball bats that you could drink beer from.

And the price of the beer bats in particular has caused some outrage on social media.

The plastic bat-shaped cups hold two pints and cost a whopping £28.50.

Ticket prices started at just under £100 on Ticketmaster, with some going as high as £418.

Fans were allowed to keep the cups as souvenirs, but the price still seemed a bit excessive

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was also part of the first London series in 2019.

He was on the coaching staff of the New York Yankees as they defeated the Boston Red Sox in both games.

London also hosted the Chicago Cubs vs St. Louis Cardinals last season after a four-year absence due to Covid.

“Players love it,” Mendoza said. ‘We all do that; this is a great event.

“The MLB does a good job of trying to continually grow the game and this is part of it, it’s a great show.”
