Tragic new details emerge of how Axle Young was crushed to death by his own car as his devastated girlfriend reveals their last phone call

A young woman has relived the moment she dragged her boyfriend’s body out from under his Holden VR Commodore and tried to revive him – even though she knew he was dead the moment she saw his face.

Shyanne Organ, 21, last spoke to her boyfriend Axle Young, 17, on the phone about 1pm on Sunday after he called from their home in Mittagong, in NSW’s Southern Highlands.

He called because he couldn’t find his AirPods and wanted to listen to music while he fixed one last thing under the car before taking his P-plate test on Monday.

She told him she would be home in five minutes, but he found the earphones before she arrived and started tinkering with the 1994 car.

Axle had used ramps to lift the car off the ground for better access, instead of jacks – a mistake that would cost him his life.

Shyanne told Daily Mail Australia she arrived home a few minutes after the call to find the vehicle had rolled off the driveway and crushed Axle.

She knew what to do because she works as an aged care nurse and is qualified in first aid and CPR, and she did everything she could to save his life.

“He was trapped when I saw him, so I immediately grabbed a jack, lifted the car and pulled him out and did CPR until the ambulance arrived,” she said.

“I saw his face and I knew he was gone, but I had hope and I kept trying.”

Shyanne explained that the couple had only recently moved into their first home and celebrated their first anniversary as a couple last Wednesday, four days before he died.

They were also planning a trip to Bali.

“It just breaks my heart knowing that just a week ago we were talking about our first vacation and where it was going to take place,” she said.

She described Axle as an “amazing person” and promised to “make him proud.”

“Axle took me under his wing and he gave me the love I was always looking for,” she said.

“He knew how to make me laugh and he knew every little thing about me.

“He was a boy who didn’t know how to say no and he kept going until the job was done or his goal was achieved.”

On Tuesday, his sister Cheyenne Young told Daily Mail Australia she would do everything possible to “honor him”.

“My family and I were so proud of how far he had come. “He was the smartest young man and no one will ever forget him,” she said.

Axle was an intern at Southern Highlands Carpet Court for two years when he died.

His employer said Axle had shown ‘patience, dedication and his wonderful character’ [that] would always put a smile on anyone’s face’.

“At the age of 17, you showed us how determined and passionate you are about your career and future,” the tribute read.

“The growth of this young man has certainly not gone unnoticed and we will cherish that forever.”

His family now has one fundraising to pay for his funeral.

“This GoFundMe has been set up in hopes of raising enough money for Axle Young’s family to plan a beautiful funeral and farewell,” it read.

“We hope to raise $5,000 to help cover costs for Axle and his family at this time of great sadness.”

Police have established a crime scene at the home where Axle died, but there were no suspicious circumstances.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
