Mitesh Kumar slashes his ex-wife’s throat at a Auckland McDonald’s after making a sickening revenge porn threat

A man brutally slit his ex-wife’s throat multiple times at a McDonald’s after threatening to distribute a nude photo of her during a bitter divorce dispute, a court has heard.

Mitesh Kumar, 45, appeared in court in Auckland, New Zealand, on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and two counts of failing to comply with search powers.

In a horrific attack, Kumar repeatedly slashed his wife with a box cutter at a McDonald’s in the Auckland suburb of Wesley earlier this year.

The gruesome details of Kumar’s brutal acts have been laid bare after the court’s summary of facts was released this week.

Kumar and his ex-wife were married for 18 years and had two children before splitting in February last year.

Before the January 11 attack, it had been four months since Kumar’s ex-wife had seen her children.

The couple agreed to meet at McDonald’s, where Kumar’s ex-wife expected to be reunited with her children, Stuff reported.

Armed with a box cutter concealed in his pocket, Kumar entered the McDonald’s and sat down at a table after ordering a drink, the agreed summary of facts said.

Kumar’s ex-wife called him from outside and said she couldn’t see the children with him.

He convinced her that the children were across the street and that she could wait for them at McDonald’s.

While Kumar waited for his ex-wife, he took the box cutter, which had a retractable blade, and hid it under his left leg.

Kumar’s ex-wife entered the restaurant and sat down opposite him.

The agreed facts show that Kumar questioned his wife about accepting a lower settlement offer as part of their divorce, and she responded that she did not want to discuss it.

Kumar then showed his ex-wife a nude photo of her on his phone, which had been taken a year earlier.

He then threatened to show people the photo if she didn’t accept the lower settlement offer.

His ex-wife tried to leave, but Kumar stood up, grabbed the hidden knife, lunged forward and grabbed her.

The agreed facts then describe the horrific attack.

“The suspect slashed the knife three times across the left side of the plaintiff’s neck/throat,” the facts said.

Kumar pushed her and she fell backwards on a table. Then he pushed her again and she was stuck in a corner.

He leaned over her, grabbed her by the hair and cut three more times into the left side of her neck/throat.

The public and McDonald’s staff begged Kumar to stop.

Kumar showed them the knife and said, ‘Don’t stop me, just stay away.’

He continued his attack despite attempts by witnesses to intervene, while his ex-wife tried to protect herself.

“You have ruined my life… you have lost my children,” Kumar told her in Gujarati, a language native to the state on India’s west coast.

As Kumar paused in the attack, his ex-wife tried to sit up, but he continued to stab and punch her repeatedly in the neck, throat, upper body and the back of her head.

His ex-wife tried to protect herself while sitting in a corner.

Kumar interrupted the attack twice when the knife malfunctioned, but then continued.

When the crowd confronted him again, Kumar shouted, “I want her dead, call the police.”

Kumar only stopped his attack when police arrived, nearly eight minutes after the attack began.

His ex-wife was taken to hospital with multiple deep wounds to her chest, throat, left ear, neck and the back of her head.

After Kumar’s arrest, he refused to give police his phone passwords and PIN codes.

He continued to refuse even after being warned that it was an offense to refuse.

Kumar told police that his ex-wife wanted too much money in the divorce settlement.

“If she dies and I go to prison, everything goes to the children. That’s the motive.”

Kumar remained in custody until his sentencing on November 5.
