A four-year-old Missouri girl has died of a heroin overdose after taking the drug her mother left lying around.
Sanaa Riggins was found unconscious at her family’s home on the 91000 block of Cozens Avenue on Saturday evening around 6:30 p.m. Emergency responders transported the child to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. She was pronounced dead an hour later, St. Louis County police said.
The child’s mother, Christine Huntspon, 32, was arrested Sunday and charged with child endangerment resulting in death.
Upon arrival at the home, officers found a number of heroin capsules. The child’s mother admitted to using the deadly drug on the morning of her child’s death, claiming her addiction likely caused her child’s death.
Huntspon is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on a $500,000 bond. First warning News reported.
