A missionary wearing a cross on his shoulder was arrested for getting into a fistfight with a Montana motorist after walking 5,000 miles across the United States.

Jesse Michael Boyd, 46, was with his two sons and two other missionaries, Eric Trent, 27, and Cater Phillips, 20, when the group got into a fight with a man in Cameron, Montana, on November 12. that led the missionary to pull out a gun.

The group had been on a walking and driving trip from North Carolina to the Pacific Ocean to give out a gospel-related book through Full Proof Gospel Ministries. They had passed through 17 states before the altercation.

Boyd’s trip came to an abrupt end when Bradley Terrell approached the group and scolded them for where they had parked their gray Subaru. Boyd apologized and insisted that they leave when Terrell got out of the car.

‘At that point, he just raged, cursing: my son was standing there. I told them there was no need to act like that,” Boyd said. WSOC-TV.

Terrell then got out of his car and Boyd drew his gun. Once Terrell seemed to have calmed down, Boyd put the gun away from him and Terrell forced him to the ground.

The altercation between the two caused Boyd’s daughter and the other missionaries to step in to help.

He told us that they were pointing rifles at us and that if we moved, they would shoot us.

Boyd, his daughter, and the other two missionaries were arrested for aggravated assault and placed on house arrest. It is unclear if Terrell has also been arrested or charged.

Meanwhile, Terrell told the news outlet that he would release more information about the attack in the future.

‘I am not a criminal or delinquent. But I will defend my family and my brothers in Christ when they are attacked. And if I am the only line of defense between a monster and my children or an innocent person, I will defend myself and them.

Boyd photographed his trip up Montana with photos taken on the side of the road and at the beach.

The photos showed Boyd with his son as he carried an upside-down cross over his shoulder to represent the direction America is headed.

While Boyd’s adventure has come to an end, he hopes to continue it soon and eventually end up in the Pacific Ocean.
