A missing Carnival Cruise passenger has been found alive after falling overboard after a night of drinking.

The male passenger, who was not identified, was found in the ocean by the US Coast Guard on Thanksgiving Day after being missing for more than 12 hours.

He was last seen at the bar with his sister before going to the toilet around 11pm on Wednesday and not returning. His sister waited until noon the next day to report him missing KPLC 7.

The ship was thoroughly searched for him, but he was nowhere to be found. Emergency services called the Coast Guard around 2:30 p.m.

It then began moving back to New Orleans to support the U.S. Coast Guard, before being released again en route to Cozumel, Mexico.

The man was spotted by another ship and was picked up by a helicopter.

He was found in a reaction and was taken back to New Orleans for treatment, USCG Petty Officer Ryan Graves said CNN.

It’s unclear how long he spent in the ocean, which has a temperature of about 62 degrees near New Orleans.

Carnival supported his family while he was missing.

Mike Anderson, who was a passenger on the ship, said he saw cruise crew searching for the man and heard announcements about a missing person.

‘[I] noticed that security started searching the boat with a picture of the missing person [passenger] in their phones,” he told CNN.

Carnival told DailyMail.com in a statement Friday, “We appreciate everyone’s efforts, especially the U.S. Coast Guard and the sailor who saw the guest in the water.”

The ship will continue to Yucatán, Mexico, before returning to the United States on Monday.

The five-day cruise began in New Orleans and arrived in Cozumel on day three. The next day, passengers visit another port before returning to Louisiana.

Earlier this year, a 32-year-old woman jumped overboard after breaking free from security.

Footage shows three guards on the Carnival Valor holding the frenzied woman’s arms behind her back. She was not handcuffed, despite previous passenger claims.

She was heard yelling the name “Alicia” as the guards helped her up some stairs and off the pool deck after an alleged hot tub incident.

Shortly after being escorted off the deck, the 32-year-old woman reportedly broke free of guards and jumped from the tenth floor of the ship into the ocean.

Shortly after being escorted off the deck, the 32-year-old woman reportedly broke free of guards and jumped from the tenth floor of the ship into the ocean. One passenger claimed they saw “blood and jerking movements” after she went overboard

Her jump was not seen in the video, but passengers told Fox 8 that she hit the side of the boat before hitting the water’s edge first.

Shocked passengers run to the edge of the ship as the crew throws life jackets and flares to mark her position in the water. The passengers claim that the woman disappeared shortly afterwards.
