Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith told reporters on Thursday night that a body was found in the blue Honda Jazz that police had been searching for in a garage in a unit block in the north Brisbane suburb of Windsor. .

“It appears we have located the body of Wendy Sleeman,” Superintendent Smith said.

“While it has yet to be formally identified, it certainly appears to be her.”

His 30-year-old son, Jamie Sleeman, now known as Slade Murdok, was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

He was remanded after appearing in court in Brisbane on charges of unlawful harassment, robbery, assault causing bodily harm, kidnapping, attempted arson and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Immediately after responding officers found a large amount of blood in her Elanora home, a desperate search began for 61-year-old Ms. Sleeman.

Police believe Ms Sleeman may have been inside the blue Honda Jazz that sped away from her home when police responded to a “burglary and entry” report on Wednesday.

Superintendent Smith alleged that the garage had been rented by Mr. Murdok, without the owner knowing who he was.

The desperate search for Ms. Sleeman, 61, began immediately after responding officers found a large amount of blood in her Elanora home.

Police had been searching for the blue Honda Jazz with the Queensland registration 952AT4.

He was last seen at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Paradise Road and Kingston Road in Kingston Central.

Superintendent Smith urges anyone who has seen the Honda Jazz to come forward.

“Just because we’ve located the car, we’re still very interested in hearing from people who might have seen it,” he said.

Police divers had searched the lake behind Mrs. Sleeman’s house.

But 30 minutes later, when police arrived on the scene, the 61-year-old was nowhere to be found.

“We have serious concerns for his safety,” Detective Superintendent Smith said Wednesday.

Officers arrested Murdok shortly before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Ms Sleeman’s sister flew to the Gold Coast from her home in Melbourne to help with the search efforts.

“This is a very sad time for the family. Obviously they have been advised. On the other hand, I guess she gives them an idea of ​​where she is,” Superintendent Smith said.
