The father of long-missing Harmony Montgomery has been charged with her murder, authorities said Monday — nearly three years after the five-year-old’s disappearance.
Harmony disappeared sometime in late November or early December 2019, but police were only notified of her disappearance last fall.
An FBI-led investigation then followed — and led to police arresting Adam Montgomery in January in connection with a second-degree assault involving his daughter prior to her disappearance.
At a Monday afternoon briefing in New Hampshire court, Montgomery – who has yet to be charged in the disappearance – was indicted by New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella.
Speaking to the court, Formella accused Montgomery, 31, of “causing the death of” his daughter during that meeting in 2019, “by repeatedly hitting Harmony on the head with a closed fist” at his home in Manchester, New Hampshire.
As a result, the lawyer said, he is now charged with second-degree murder.
Other charges against the accused child killer include falsifying physical evidence, misusing a corpse and tampering with a witness, the proceedings further revealed – with Montgomery will be arraigned in Manchester on Tuesday.
Adam Montgomery, father of long-missing Harmony Montgomery has been charged with murder, police said Monday — nearly three years after the five-year-old’s disappearance.

The bomb’s unveiling is a few months in the making and serves as the first indication from lawmakers that Harmony, as many suspected, was murdered.
It also comes four months after DailyMail.com revealed that members of the FBI stormed Montgomery’s home and evidence, including a refrigerator, from the apartment.
Harmony had lived with her father and his drug-addicted wife Kayla Montgomery in the weeks leading up to her disappearance.
“I would like once again to express my deepest condolences to Harmony’s family, friends and loved ones,” Attorney General Formella said at a news conference Monday after making the disclosures.
“We understand that today’s news, while important for the purposes of this investigation, is yet another difficult time for those who loved Harmony and those who have followed this case.”
Formella added that Montgomery will face charges on Tuesday on the new charges.
