There are growing fears that a missing child could be taken across state lines after going missing with a woman she knew.
Molly Nonnan-Medley, eight, was last seen north of Wollongong in Woonona, south of Sydney, about 11am on Thursday.
Police were alerted on Friday after attempts to contact the woman failed.
An investigation has been launched to find the eight-year-old, who is described as 120cm tall, with a thin build, blue eyes and blond/brown hair.
The woman is known to regularly visit the Woonona, Wollongong and Huskisson areas, but police believe she may be taking the child to the highway.
“Investigations have indicated the pair may be traveling somewhere in Queensland,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.
“It is believed that they rely on public transport to travel.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
