Miss Universe runner-up breaks silence on CEO’s controversial ‘blonde hair, blue eyes’ remark
Miss Universe first runner-up Chidimma Adeshina has broken her silence on the controversial comment made by the beauty pageant CEO.
CEO Anne Jakrajutatip raised eyebrows when asked how the pageant was taking “strategic steps” to evolve after Denmark’s Victoria Kjær Theilvig was crowned the new Miss Universe.
‘Evolution? We have blonde and blue eyes, so we are already reaching the ultimate evolution,” responded Anne – a Thai businesswoman and the first transgender woman to own the Miss Universe pageant.
‘We don’t need any more evolution here. We already have the best here.’
Her response sparked a flood of reactions as beauty pageant fans flocked to social media to criticize the CEO for her “shocking” comments.
Although the world was stunned by the beauty queen-mogul’s words, Chidimma, the first Miss Nigeria to land a spot in the top five, remained nonchalant.

She told the outlet, “I’m not really offended by it. Maybe that’s just her perspective; maybe that’s how she felt about the evolution of Miss Universe.”
But she did take issue with Donald Jr.’s comments. which he made online after Victoria’s win.
The son of the sitting president said: ‘Biological and objectively attractive women can win beauty pageants again. WE’LL BE BACK SOON!!!’
Chidimma noted that she was disappointed when she read the comments on his comments.
“All the queens that have been crowned are so beautiful in their own way, so for him to make a comment like that, I feel like he’s ignoring all the previous queens,” she said.
“I can understand why people didn’t really like a comment like that and why it created a spark on social media.”
The CEO’s response was posted in a video on the Instagram account @roadtomissusawhich led to a big reaction from fans.
Victoria, who was crowned Miss Universe Denmark in September, is an animal rights activist and has been open about her personal experiences with abuse.

After the CEO made her statement about the ‘ultimate evolution’, many Miss Universe fans were left unimpressed and took to social media to express their thoughts.
“The CEO of Miss Universe is a lunatic because what do you mean the evolution of blonde and blue eyes?” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter..
Someone else agreed: ‘The CEO of Miss Universe boldly saying that blonde hair and blue eyes are the standard is soooo.’
“Miss Universe CEO’s comments are so shocking,” another wrote on the platform.
The conversation also continued in the comments section of @roadtomissusa’s Instagram post, where some seemed to side with Anne and others strongly disagreed.
“This is beyond tacky,” one user commented on Instagram. “I don’t think I can watch Miss USA or Miss Universe anymore.
‘Their leaders are allowing these parades to be razed to the ground. They are callous, greedy and don’t care about the production of the pageant and the needs of the participants. I can’t support this nonsense.’
Another person agreed: ‘Stop giving them your money. Go where you are welcome and that is clearly not there. Better ways to invest your time, money, heart, talents and intelligence!’

The post also included an X comment from Donald Trump’s son Don Jr., which he made after Saturday’s victory

However, other fans revealed there was no problem with the comment and rushed to Anne’s defense.
“It’s evolutionary because the last blonde was in 2004… there to know we had everything on the spectrum. I love the new Miss Universe,” one person wrote.
One person admitted: “The Trump era was the best, and we want it back.”
In addition to posting Donald Jr.’s message. on X and Anne’s video, the pageant news account also shared its opinion on the matter.
“The director and CEO’s concerning statements, combined with substandard production quality and execution of ideas, suggest that the organization is more focused on garnering attention for itself than on uplifting and empowering women,” the report said in part.

This is not the first comment about Miss Universe competitors that Anne has made since becoming CEO of the organization.
