Liverpool legend Didi Hamann says the club has a major problem with failed striker Darwin Nunez.

The club record £85m signing failed to impress in the goalless draw against Manchester United.

Nunez has scored just four goals this season; his last goal came against Nottingham Forest two months ago.

Hamann told talkSPORT that the Uruguayan international is becoming a concern.

He said: 'I like Endo, I've seen him a lot in Germany and he scored a good goal a few weeks ago so I thought he was adapting to the pace of the Premier League.

'Szoboszlai had a good start to the season, but has now calmed down a bit. Gravenberch is a capable player.

'I think they miss Alexis Mac Allister, he is probably the best midfielder so far.

'But I think the big problem is Nunez's form.

'Since he scored those goals at Newcastle I thought he had come into his own and was the striker everyone expected him to be.

'I think he has only scored one or two goals and his form is a bit worrying.'

Nunez's woe was made worse as he missed a great opportunity to put his side ahead against Man United in the second half.

Luis Diaz called for a penalty when he was said to have been tripped by goalkeeper Andre Onana, but with several bodies on the ground Nunez opted to join the protests towards the referee rather than roll the ball into an empty net.
