Miriam Margolyes’ blunt line of questioning leaves Waleed Aly speechless on The Project: ‘That did not go as predicted!’

Project host Waleed Aly found himself at a loss for words during Thursday’s episode, thanks to a cheeky series of questions from Miriam Margolyes.

The British-Australian actress, who appeared as a panelist on the show, was quick to share her thoughts on the volatile situation in Gaza.

Margolyes, who is Jewish, emphatically called for an immediate ceasefire out of nowhere, a statement that seemed to resonate with the studio audience.

“Now a truce,” she demanded.

“Whether you’re black or white, it doesn’t matter,” she continued.

Aly seemed visibly surprised and lowered his head, chuckling.

“This is actually a very interesting question,” he replied.

‘I’ve thought about this a lot. I’m not kidding about that. I’m Egyptian.’

“Oh really,” Margolyes replied.

‘Well, fortunately I guess, because I love the Egyptian people. I am on the side of the Palestinians. I must tell you that now, as Jews, we must always say what we are. Are we for Israel or are we against Israel? I am only for humanity. A ceasefire,” she repeated.

The veteran journalist known for his in-depth and often complex conversations lightheartedly acknowledged the turn of events to viewers, noting, “Well, I think it’s safe to say the conversation didn’t go as predicted!”

Never one to mince her words, Margolyes replied with her characteristic bluntness, “What the heck. It is important!’
