Miranda Lambert felt honored to pay respects to the late Loretta Lynn during CMA Awards tribute

Country legend Loretta Lynn passed away last month at the age of 90.

And just over a month later, Miranda Lambert got to help pay tribute to the Coal Miner’s Daughter at the CMA Awards at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday night.

Afterwards, Lambert confessed that she was honored to honor Lynn, in part because she felt a strong personal connection to Lynn, who scored 24 number one hit singles and 11 number one albums during a career dating back to the late 1950s.

“I spent some time with her, and you meet a lot of people in a career, but it’s one of those memories that will be burned into my heart forever,” Lambert said. People on the CMA red carpet.

‘She was such a sweet person and made me feel so at home. It’s a little intimidating to hang out with your hero all day, but she made me feel like an old friend.”

Lambert, 39, also confessed that some of her most cherished moments were on stage when she performed with Lynn.

In recent years, Lynn has suffered from a range of health problems, including multiple pneumonia and a broken arm after a fall at home.

In May 2017, Lynn suffered a stroke at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, and then she fell and fractured her hip, seven months later, in January 2018.

Lynn died in her sleep at her home on October 4, 2022, at the age of 90. So far, no cause of death was immediately shared with the public.

“I’m grateful every time she held my hand and signed my guitar and told me about a memory and gave me advice,” she said of their time together over the years.

The star of Mama’s Broken Heart said she keeps that precious guitar at home and confessed, “I play it at home. I certainly won’t take it with me on the road.’

Lambert shared the stage for the Loretta Lynn medley at the CMA Awards with Carrie Underwood and Reba MxEntire, marking the first time the three country stars sang together.

“We have a Texan and two Okies,” Lambert, a native of Lindale, Texas, said of their roots. “What could go wrong?”

The 14-time CMA recipient also got to perform her song Geraldene, which is off her new studio album Palomino which was released in April and has since been nominated for the Country Music Association Award for Album Of The Year.

Lambert got to share the experience of the awards ceremony with her husband of more than three years, Brendan McLoughlin, 31.

The couple also showed their chemistry as they hit the red carpet for a series of photos early in the evening.
