Miranda Hart has revealed she has faced some tough challenges in a ‘very unexpected decade’ of her life.
The comedienne rose to fame with her eponymous sitcom series in 2009 and played the role of Chummy in Call The Midwife from 2012 to 2015.
However, the now 51-year-old star did not return for the sixth series of the BBC drama after reports emerged that she was struggling with health problems.
And after a decade out of the spotlight, Miranda is back to explain what really happened in her new memoir I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You.
Speaking to her Instagram followers, she admitted that she has now reached a place of joy and peace and has “physically recovered in a way she never thought possible” after a period of “darkness”.

In her new book, out October 10, Miranda takes readers on a journey through the “treasures she learned in the dark” in the final chapter of her life, and hints that she wants to share her own love story with us.
Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, she explained in true Miranda fashion: “Hi, I have some big news to share. I’m very excited. I have a slightly sweaty upper lip from the excitement and possibly a little reflux.
‘It’s about my book. I can tell you now that my book can be pre-ordered from October 10th at all good bookstores.
‘It’s called I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, what an intriguing title Miranda, I hear you say, thank you very much!’
‘I’ll be honest about this, well, here’s what I’ll say: I’ve had a very unexpected decade in my life and there have been surprising and incredible joys, but also some really difficult and equally surprising challenges.
‘All the tests and trials I’ve been through are in here if you buy it… I’m here, I’m intact, I survived.
‘So I’m sharing the treasures I learned in the darkness and the things that have helped me live and feel free, joyful, peaceful, and physically restored in ways I never thought possible.
“So there you have it, there’s always hope I guess, no matter what you’re going through right now. None of us go through life without some tests and trials, right?”

‘It may not sound like it, but there is a lot to laugh about and some nice stories to tell.’

‘I’ve distilled what I’ve learned into 10 treasures. They have, without a doubt, changed my life. The proof in the pudding is that I’m alive and kicking and happy to tell my story.
‘I hope my story helps you (there is so much good stuff in it, don’t worry!). We are all in this life together, dear friends.’
