Mira Sorvino, 55, joins Dancing With The Stars… a year after the HEARTBREAKING death of her Goodfellas actor dad Paul Sorvino at 83

Mira Sorvino has joined season 32 of the ABC dance competition show Dancing With The Stars.

The blonde beauty is linked to professional dancer Gleb Savchenko.

The announcement was made Wednesday morning on Good Morning America.

The 55-year-old star is best known for her hit films Barcelona, ​​Mighty Aphrodite and Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion.

This comes a year after the death of her father Paul Sorvino at the age of 83.

He was best known for playing Lucchese crime family caporegime Paulie Cicero in the hit 1990 crime drama Goodfellas.

Prior to Wednesday’s announcement, Ariana Madix, Charity Lawson and Jamie Lynn Spears had been announced as three of the celebrities competing for the trophy.

Alfonso Ribeiro and new co-host Julianne Hough will take over the role of host.

Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough return as judges.

Although the series usually takes place on Monday nights, this year it moves to Tuesdays and begins with a two-and-a-half-hour premiere on September 26.

In addition to airing on ABC, the film will also be streamed live on Disney+ and available the next day on Hulu.

Mira admitted in August 2022 that her grief was still very raw.

Mira – whose mother is Paul’s ex-wife Lorraine Davis – received support from her famous friends, with Star Wars actor Mark Hamill writing: ‘Dear Mira – Your loss is shared by a world enriched by his impeccable artistry. His legacy is immeasurable. Like you, I will cherish his memory forever.”

And Patricia Arquette wrote: ‘I know it’s a great loss. Your father was also a great actor and he was so proud of you.”

Mira previously paid tribute to her ‘amazing father’ after his death.

Paul died of natural causes after battling several health issues in recent years.

His wife Dee Dee, whom he married in 2014, said in a statement: “Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life and one of the greatest artists to ever grace the screen appeared and phase.’

In addition to Mira, Paul was also father of Amanda and Michael and had five grandchildren.

The two were always close.

In April, she wished him a happy 83rd birthday. “A very happy birthday to my father Paul Sorvino,” she wrote on Twitter alongside a black and white image of herself and her father.

When Sorvino learned amid the #MeToo reckoning that Mira was among the women allegedly sexually harassed and blacklisted by Harvey Weinstein, he told TMZ that if Weinstein had known, “he wouldn’t have walked . He would be in a wheelchair.”

“He better hope he goes to jail. Because when we meet, I think he’s on the ground,” Sorvino told the news channel in 2018.

Mira claimed that Weinstein’s attempts to contact her began in 1995, when she was promoting her role in Woody Allen’s Mighty Aphrodite. He started massaging her shoulders while the two were alone in a hotel room at the Toronto Film Festival, according to Mira, who said he then tried to continue, but she was able to fight him off at the time.

A few weeks later, he managed to bypass her doorman and reach her apartment around midnight, at which point she told him her boyfriend was on his way after he called a male friend to come to her.

Mira believes this rejection from Weinstein ultimately damaged her career.

“There may have been other factors, but I felt absolutely frozen and that my rejection of Harvey had something to do with that,” the actress said.
