  • The sheriff’s office is still searching for the billionaire’s daughter who disappeared Sunday
  • Suicide threats have been made before, law enforcement officials say
  • It is believed that Mint left the house of his own accord and was not taken

Missing non-binary heiress Mint Butterfield has previously threatened to commit suicide, say officers hunting for the billionaire’s daughter.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that the search for the 16-year-old continues in the Bay Area and that they are believed to have left her San Francisco home voluntarily.

They said they are no closer to finding the teen.

The release said: “At this time we have no information to believe Mint was taken against their will. The Sheriff’s Office considers Mint a voluntarily missing juvenile who is ‘in danger’ due to a previously reported threat of suicide.”

The release also outlined the last sightings of Mint, who attended a private boarding school in Napa Valley.

The teen’s father is Stuart Butterfield, co-founder of Slack, while her mother is Flickr founder Caterina Fake.

A sheriff’s spokesman said: ‘Mint was reported missing by their mother, Caterina Fake. Fake had last seen her daughter at their Bolinas home on April 21 around 10 p.m.

‘The next morning, Fake realized that Mint was not at home and discovered a note indicating that Mint had left the residence, with a suitcase at an unknown time during the night or early morning.

“It is unclear how Mint left the area as they did not have access to a vehicle or telephone.

“Fake and Mint also share a home in San Francisco, and based on statements made by Fake, it is believed that Mint may have moved to the Tenderloin District of San Francisco.”

Mint was previously reported to have substance abuse problems and was rumored to be hiding out in San Francisco’s notoriously rough Tenderloin neighborhood.

In a Facebook post, a family friend said the teen was spotted on April 23 in Larkspur Landing, a coastal community north of San Francisco.
