A woman who had repeatedly rejected her colleague’s romantic advances was shot dead by the man outside the workplace, police said.

Nicole Hammond, 28, was shot in the neck with a handgun by colleague Jordan Carpenter on Oct. 24, police said. The incident happened around 7 a.m. in the Dubow Textile parking lot in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Police arrived shortly afterwards and found the body of the 28-year-old “with a gunshot wound in the parking lot.” Police said they tried to take life-saving measures against Ms Hammond, but she died at the scene.

Jordan Carpenter, 36, had already fled. However, police found Carpenter at a house in Sauk Rapids nearly three hours later.

Carpenter was then taken into custody to be questioned by police and arrested on charges of second-degree murder.

The alleged killer has not admitted to shooting Mrs Hammond, according to a probable cause statement obtained by the… Kansas City Star. He did say, however, that he was walking to Mrs. Hammond’s car when the gun sounded.

Carpenter told police he ran away because he was “too traumatized” after seeing Mrs Hammond’s body.

Police said Carpenter “didn’t provide help, went to work, or called.”

Mrs. Hammond had repeatedly told Carpenter that she was not interested in a romantic relationship with him.

According to a media release by the St. Cloud Police Department, Jordan Carpenter has been arrested and transported to the Benton County Jail, where he is being held on a murder charge.

A probable cause statement revealed that Mrs. Hammond had rejected Carpenter’s advances by text the night before. Ms. Carpenter told him she “didn’t want to be touched or manipulated by him” and asked him “not to make the job uncomfortable,” the police statement said. She had “repeatedly” rejected his advances for the past month.

Police also said they found a text message sent by Mrs. Hammond telling a friend that Carpenter was angry with her.

Hammond’s employees told the Kansas City Star that Carpenter had repeatedly harassed her and was in a “bad mood.”

However, the CEO of Dubow Textile, Rob Dubow, said: Fox that this was never reported to management.

Mr Dubow told Fox: “Unfortunately, we had no idea. Every time there is something that requires our intervention, we step in. But in this case, we had no indication that anything was wrong.’
