Minnesota Twins backstop Christian Vazquez probably didn’t think he would be in danger in the circle on deck Wednesday. That is, until he was hit by a rogue foul ball.
The catcher was hit on the head by a foul ball as he warmed up for his at-bat during the Twins’ game against the Detroit Tigers.
During teammate Donovan Solano’s at bat in the third inning, Vazquez was waiting his turn at the plate when the ball hit him on the helmet, narrowly missing his face.
Vazquez was able to duck just in time to avoid a really serious injury, with the ball thankfully just hitting the rim of his helmet.
He was able to laugh about it and walked away from the circle on the deck seemingly without any injury.

The catcher luckily came out unscathed and was able to get up for his at bat
Vazquez is certainly used to having a foul ball hurtling towards him as a catcher, but normally when he’s got all his safety gear on.
With a serious injury averted, Vazquez stayed in the game and performed for his at-bat, but then flew out to rightfield.
At the end of the third inning, the Twins led 4-3, but eventually the Tigers rallied from 8-7.
Home runs from Spencer Torkelson and Riley Greene helped the Tigers roar back in the third inning after trailing 4-0 in the second.
Torkelson got on again in the seventh as back-to-back homers off his and Kerry Carpenter marked a four-run inning for Detroit to give it a 7-4 lead.
The Twins tried to bounce back in the ninth, but their rally fell short by three runs, ending the game in an 8-7 loss.
