In a horrifying attack, Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minnesota, was mugged in the elevator of her Washington, DC apartment building on Thursday around 7:15 a.m.

He defended himself by throwing hot coffee in the attacker’s face, according to his police report, and called 911 when the attacker fled.

His chief of staff, Nick Coe, said he sustained some bruises but is otherwise physically fine.

“There is no evidence that the incident was politically motivated,” he said.

‘C1 further states that S1 entered the same elevator he was in and started randomly doing push-ups.

‘C1 stated that S1 with a clenched fist punched her in the chin area of ​​the face and then grabbed her by the neck.

‘C1 defended himself by throwing his hot coffee at S1.’

The assailant fled before the police arrived at the scene.
