Minnehaha Falls, Katoomba: Man falls to his death at famous Instagram spot in the Blue Mountains
A man has fallen to his death at a popular waterfall.
He was with a group of friends at Minnehaha Falls in Katoomba, in Sydney’s Blue Mountains, about 1.30pm on Monday when the tragedy unfolded.
Police officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command, Police Rescue and
Paramedics quickly arrived on scene and found the man with serious injuries.
He could not be saved and died on the spot.
A helicopter was initially called to the site but was canceled as the patient could not be saved.
The victim has not yet been formally identified.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Located just over 100km west of Sydney, Minnehaha Falls is labeled a ‘must-visit’ by tourists for its views and ‘impressive’ swimming hole.
The tourist hotspot is only accessible via a hiking trail 20 minutes from the parking lot.
It is clear that parking spaces are difficult to come by in the summer.
