Mindy Kaling, 44, reveals she ‘struggles’ with hyperpigmentation and acne… after her 30lb weight loss won her a swimsuit collaboration
Mindy Kaling has revealed that she has a problem she is struggling with.
That told the 44-year-old The Office actress To tempt that she suffers from hyperpigmentation.
“I’ve always struggled with hyperpigmentation and I always try to find products that help with my acne scars and dark spots but don’t also change my skin tone,” the writer said. “I feel incredibly lucky to be someone celebrated for my dark brown skin.”
Hyperpigmentation causes patches of skin to appear darker than the surrounding skin.
It occurs when the skin produces an excess of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. It can affect any skin type and is more likely during pregnancy, in old age or after an injury, according to Medical News Today.
Kaling always looks flawless in her red carpet photos, so her hyperpigmentation comes as a shock to fans.

Being real with her Instagram followers: In 2015, she was open about needing ‘zit’ cream
But in 2015, she was candid about needing a zit cream.
She is an investor and brand ambassador for Lion Pose, a clinical skincare line that is hyper-focused on hyperpigmentation.
The brand was founded by two BIPOC Silicon Valley software alumni and Harvard MBA graduates, Madhu Punjabi and Nisha Phatak, who struggled with dark spots and scars for their tan skin.
Leveraging the expertise of Harvard-trained dermatologists, Dr. Laura Scott and Dr. Tia Paul, who specialize in colored skin (and have an active social presence) and Kaling, have their solo serum sku UNSPOTTED 4X Acid Jelly Night Serum.
Also in her interview, Mindy said it’s weird that so much attention is being paid to her weight loss. “It’s not super exciting for me to talk about my body and how it’s analyzed,” explains the star who recently partnered with a bikini company.
Kaling has lost more than 30 pounds in recent years.
“So I guess I’m just not going to get into it because unfortunately it’s taking over the conversation and people are taking it so personally.”
In May, she was announced as the new star to work with Andy Swim.
That required her to show off her weight loss in swimwear.
The actress posed on the beach as the waves came ashore.
She wore the yellowish-orange Capri model one-piece bathing suit. “Mindy + The Amalfi + all-new Daffodil = major swoon,” the new Instagram caption read.

She admitted that it took her a while to warm to the idea of modeling costumes.
‘I’m not crazy about trying on swimsuits. In fact, I have a sort of famous contempt for it? But these are so flattering, I promise your new favorite suit is in this collection,” the raven-black actress wrote on Instagram.
But she seems very much at home in suits, including swimsuits and bikinis.
And she told People that she’s thrilled with her shape, which has given her the confidence to model swimwear.
“I’m very confident in my body these days, which unfortunately I haven’t been able to say in my entire life,” she revealed. ‘I feel amazing.’
But the attention to her weight loss was a lot to deal with.

“I know people are really interested in my body and the changes in my body, and I find it flattering and sometimes it’s just a bit much, so I try not to tune it out too much.”
“The truth is that I spend so much time and energy trying to be healthy,” she noted.
