Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo “is diagnosed with a sprained wrist ligament after undergoing a test and will return as soon as the pain eases” following his brief All-Star appearance.
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly suffered a sprained ligament in his right wrist after undergoing further tests Monday.
Antetokounmpo is ready to undergo treatment with the expectation that he will be able to return to the lineup once the pain and swelling subside, according to multiple reports.
He initially suffered the wrist injury midway through a game against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, just before the All-Star break, and did not return to the game after injuring himself.
After saying he would still be an All-Star, Antetokounmpo played the first possession with his wrist heavily bandaged before driving to the basket for a dunk on the game’s opening possession.
A timeout was called immediately after the basket, allowing him to be replaced and sit out the rest of the game.

He managed just two points during the All-Star break before sitting out the rest of the game.
Despite the lack of participation from the captain, Team Giannis was able to defeat Team LeBron 184-175.
The 28-year-old is averaging a career-high 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game this season as Milwaukee battles for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Bucks currently have a 41-17 record and rank second in the East and are just one game behind the Boston Celtics, who have a 42-17 record.
Milwaukee has 24 games left in the season and is just 2 1/2 games ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers and 4.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Any time the 7-time All-Star misses is sure to impact Milwaukee in the playoff race, as it was playing its best basketball of the season prior to the injury.
In the 11 games before getting injured, Antetokounmpo averaged 7.2 points, 13.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists.
