Milwaukee Brewers’ escalator malfunction injures 11 as six are rushed to the hospital after unit broke ‘with over 100 people on it’: ‘Scariest thing that’s ever happened to me’

A malfunctioning escalator during Saturday’s Brewers-Cubs game in Milwaukee resulted in injuries to 11 fans, one of whom called it “the scariest thing that ever happened to him.”

“Following today’s game, an escalator at American Family Field that transported fans from the terrace to the box seat malfunctioned,” the team said in a statement after the Brewers’ 5-3 loss to the visiting Cubs.

No life-threatening injuries were reported, but six of the 11 injured fans were taken to hospital. The other five were treated at the scene.

“Our on-site doctor and ambulance service were there immediately and we are grateful for their quick response.”

CHGO Chicago producer Greg Braggs Jr. was among those taken to hospital.

The incident threw a spanner in the works for the Brewers, who were already having a bad day. They were defeated by their former manager, Craig Counsell of the Cubs.

The Cubs and Brewers will play the rubber match of the series on Sunday. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:10 a.m. local time.
