Millie Bobby Brown, 18, reveals surprise close friendship with ‘guiding light’ Mariah Carey, 53

Millie Bobby Brown revealed on Thursday that she has a close friendship with Mariah Carey as she promoted her new Netflix movie on an NBC talk show.

The 18-year-old British actress was asked by Jimmy, 48, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon if there was “someone surprising” who loves her for her work on the Netflix sci-fi horror drama Stranger Things.

Jimmy commented that Mariah, 53, was such a big fan, along with her 11-year-old twins Monroe and Morocco, that they carved her Elf character into a pumpkin for Halloween in 2019.

He shared a photo with the public that Mariah posted on Instagram of Morocco posing as Millie’s psychokinetic character Elf.

Millie, who sported a blonde ponytail while wearing a brown leather jacket with gray pants, said she saw the Instagram post and decided she needed to meet Mariah’s son Morocco, who she described as “the cutest thing ever.”

“And, you know, do the pose and make him think I have super powers. We met Monroe and Morocco who are just the most brilliant little kids. And of course, I just loved meeting Mariah and was like, “Oh, we were in touch,” Millie said.

“Have you been in touch with Mariah Carey?” Jimmy asked incredulously.

“Yes, Mimi,” Millie said with a smile and a defiant head tilted, using Mariah’s nickname.

Jimmy asked if Mariah ever texted her and Millie said they texted earlier in the day.

Millie explained that they bonded because they both grew up in the public eye and connected on many different levels.

“But I also love the way she lives her life with such vigor. And she has so much knowledge, and she is so wise. And she’s just been an incredible guide for me and then we connected,” Millie said.

Millie shared that when she visits Mariah, the five-octave singer often breaks into a song.

‘No, it’s real. …She does it when we eat Chinese,’ said Millie.

Jimmy said he’d talk to Mariah about it the next time she’s on his talk show.

“Oh no, she just does it. And she’ll just talk to you and she’ll say, “Always be my baby,” Millie said, crooning.

Millie also revealed that she has sung with Mariah in her studio.

‘It’s the most magical. She’s the most talented singer ever,” said Millie.

Millie promoted Enola Holmes 2 in which she once again plays the title character, while also serving as a producer alongside her older sister Paige Brown, 28.

“This is something I’ve wanted to do since I was little. I mean, 13, 14 I read the book series and I went to my father and I said I wanted to make it. So for me, my older sister and I collaborated on this project and made sure it came out in the most authentic and British way. And, you know, growing up, I never had a female British leader to look up to and Enola is that for me and it was an amazing experience creating it,” said Millie.

Millie previously played a game called True Confessions with Jimmy and her Stranger Things co-star Noah Schnapp, 18.

She revealed during the game that she sneaks her bunny into hotel rooms, while Noah confirmed that he once caused singer Shawn Mendes to trip through guilt to follow him back on Instagram.

Millie wore a stunning floor-length pink halter dress with a plunging neckline to the premiere of Enola Holmes 2 at the Paris Theater in New York City on Thursday.

She was joined at the event by her boyfriend Jake Bongiovi, 20.

Enola Holmes 2 is set to hit Netflix on November 4.

The Netlix movies starring Millie as the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes are based on the detective novels of The Enola Holmes Mysteries for young adults by American author Nancy Springer, 74.

British actor Henry Cavill, 39, plays Sherlock Holmes in the Enola Holmes films.
