She inherited her father’s musical abilities and, like him, has found fame and fortune.
But there is one rather unpleasant characteristic that Miley Cyrus believes she also inherited from her father Billy Ray Cyrus.
Speaking on David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Miley, 31, jokingly said she inherited “narcissism” from her father, 62.
“I also inherited narcissism from my father,” the singer said amid their rumored estrangement. “I don’t know anything about my own siblings except the part I did. … I moved to LA, and that’s all I really knew.”
She also praised her mother as her “hero” and while she acknowledged that both her parents helped her to her successful career, she said the role they played in her rise to fame “cannot be weighed on the same scale.”

She has credited her father for providing a roadmap for navigating her career.
“My father, I’m grateful that I was able to keep an eye on him before me,” she explained.
“He almost gave me this map, a map of what to do and what not to do, and he guided me on both,” she said.
‘Without my father I know… who I am as a person would not exist. Because my father as a creative, as an artist, and the way his brain works has always made me feel more secure in my own mind.”
Cyrus is the daughter of Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus. Her parents were married for 29 years and share Miley, Braison, 30, and Noah, 24.
Billy Ray and Tish also share daughter Brandi, 37, and son Trace, 35, Tish’s two children from a previous relationship who he adopted. Additionally, he is father to son Christopher Cody, 32, from a previous relationship.
Miley’s relationship with her father is under strain following a rumored family feud that saw her snub him in her Grammy acceptance speech in February.
She did thank her mother Tish in her speech.
A source said this later We weekly that Billy Ray “tried to contact Miley many times” and even “congratulated” her on her first win.
“Miley and Billy Ray are on the run,” the insider said. ‘Miley has a very close bond with her mother and stands by her side.’

Meanwhile, another source told People that Billy Ray’s daughter Noah Cyrus has remained “very loyal” to her father.
“She and Billy Ray have always had a very close relationship,” the insider noted, adding, “Their parents’ divorce was very difficult, but it was also long overdue.”
The Cyrus children are reportedly split between the parents’ new husbands after Billy Ray married Australian singer Firerose.

Tish married Dominic Purcell last August in an intimate ceremony in Malibu, with Miley as her maid of honor.
Noah and Braison were notably absent from the wedding, fueling further speculation about a feud at the time.
In February, reports surfaced that Noah was dating Purcell, 54, when Tish “started pursuing him,” and she “knew” he was with her daughter.
‘The unrest between Noah and Tish goes much further [what people think]’, says a source We weekly. “Noah is very distraught because Tish stole Dominic from her.”
Another source has since told DailyMail.com that Noah made up the story about dating Purcell.
“Noah never dated Dominic and they weren’t together,” the insider said. “She is delusional if she thinks otherwise and is trying to create a narrative that will portray her as a victim.”
The interview comes amid rumors of family drama
Now Billy Ray is divorcing Firerose after just seven months of marriage.
The singer married his Australian wife in October 2023, but filed for divorce at the end of May TMZ. She was his third wife – he was married to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991 and to Tish from 1993 to 2022.
The divorce case notes that there are no minor children between them.
TMZ has reported that the 62-year-old singer claimed that both irreconcilable differences and “inappropriate marital behavior” were the reasons behind their divorce.
Furthermore, Cyrus requests an annulment, because the marriage was entered into fraudulently.
He said their separation date was listed as May 22, 2024 in the divorce papers, which were filed last month.

In court documents obtained by E! Cyrus says he is seeking an annulment because “he consented to a marriage on the basis of fraud by the woman, where, had he known this, he would not have entered into the marriage bond.”
TMZ also reports that it appears Billy wanted Firerose, 34, out of their home by May 24. He is willing to pay as much as $500 per night for her lodging expenses over the course of 10 days.
Once the ten day period has expired, he is willing to pay her $5,000 per month to acquire a suitable new home in Tennessee.
Billy is willing to make the payments over the course of 90 days or once their divorce is officially finalized, whichever comes first. Payments must be made on the first of the month.
