Miley Cyrus breaks down 17 favorite looks – from the ‘teddy bear’ costume to her gold Flowers dress

Miley Cyrus sat down with British Vogue for their Living in appearance segment on Thursday, going through 17 favorite fashion moments from her career.

The 30-year-old pop superstar – who discussed her “interesting” love life with the publication – took a trip down memory lane that spanned from her sweet Hannah Montana days to her stunning Bangerz reinvention.

Miley’s top fashion moments included the infamous “teddy bear” costume she wore for a stunning VMA performance in 2013 and the gold revenge dress that gilded her music video for Flowers this year.

While discussing her sexy VMA look, Cyrus brazenly exclaimed the first reaction she got: β€œThis teddy bear costume, which was extremely controversial and angered a lot of people. I repeat: this teddy bear costume has angered many people.”

The singer explained that her daring outfit was inspired by a sculpture of a teddy bear by Todd James that she “fell in love with” because it “reminded me of myself.”

When it came to her stunning gold dress from Flowers, Miley focused on the “magic” of the design rather than the ribald intent behind it β€” as the song was widely seen as a flamethrower aimed at her ex Liam Hemsworth.

Wrecking Ball hitmaker Yves Saint Laurent described the nude look as “1991 museum-quality archive,” and told the story of how she and her team had a psychic connection when selecting the gorgeous gown.

“The magic of this dress is that Jacob, my director, and Bradley, my stylist, and I, we all got together and we watched the treatment and we went, ‘Oh, b**ch, I know what to wear , and I’m like, “No, b**ch, I know what to wear, and he’s like, “No, b**ch, I know what to wear,” and then we all held up our phones and it was the same dress.’

Miley further praised the look, saying, “It didn’t say too much, it was self-explanatory, but it also enabled me to speak.” It totally captured what the song was about.”

Going back to her early days as a child star, Cyrus charted the course of her reinvention of her image by moving from a vibrant and innocent Hannah Montana dress to a sultry, belly-flaunting vixen look.

“I wore this because it felt like it was protective,” the Jaded singer said, explaining the intent behind her teen queen aesthetic in 2010 when she performed at a Parisian nightclub.

Cyrus said the look was a “complete departure from Hannah Montana’s style,” allowing the young pop star to “introduce Miley to the world” and escape the confines of child stardom.

“I had been a character for so long, so this was the beginning of developing who Miley would be.”
