The NBA suspended former Charlotte player Jeffrey Taylor for 24 games in 2014 after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault. Bridges initially faced three felony charges and originally pleaded not guilty to all three.
Last season, the 24-year-old forward had 20.2 points, 7 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
He was expected to receive a multi-year contract offer worth more than $100 million in free agency, which the Hornets likely would have matched to retain him.
After the change of situation after his arrest, he is now only talking to the Hornets about a new agreement to return.
The combination of not having Bridges along with injuries to key players like LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward have led Charlotte to an 8-24 record.
Ball and Hayward have recently returned to the Hornets’ lineup after missing time injured.
As part of her punishment, Bridges must complete a 52-week domestic violence course, a 52-week parenting course, and 500 hours of community service.
He has also gone so far as to file a restraining order against his estranged wife, alleging that she has repeatedly harassed him.
