Mikel Arteta completes a clean sweep of Arsenal by being named Premier League Manager of the Month for November and December, his second award of the season, after Martin Odegaard’s player award.

  • Arsenal boss named Manager of the Month for second time this campaign
  • He picked up the award after Arsenal had gone four wins out of four in months.
  • Martin Odegaard has also been named Player of the Month for the period
  • For the first time at Arsenal, he has won both awards in eight years, since March 2015.

Mikel Arteta has been named Manager of the Month for November and December after leading Arsenal to four wins out of four in the two months.

The Spaniard sustained Arsenal’s impressive start to the season on both sides of the World Cup and has been duly rewarded with his second such award of the season.

Wins against Chelsea and Wolves before the Qatar tournament closed out Arsenal’s first part of the season in solid fashion before picking up where they left off on Boxing Day against West Ham with a comprehensive 3-1 win.

Arteta led Arsenal to four wins out of four in the months of December and November.

Their 4-2 win at Brighton on New Year’s Eve ended a recent poor run of results against the Seagulls.

Arteta topped a list that also included Eddie Howe, Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Frank.

The former Arsenal player received the award in August after Arsenal started the season in breakneck fashion, winning 100 per cent of their games.

Arteta won the award twice last season, in September and March. The last Arsenal manager to win it twice in a previous season was Arsene Wenger, in 2007-08.

It was a clean sweep for Arsenal as Martin Odegaard was named Player of the Month.

The Arsenal captain has been key in their push for a Premier League title charge this term.

Alongside Arteta, Martin Odegaard claimed his first Player of the Month award, becoming the second Norwegian, after Erling Haaland, to claim the award. It marks the first time in March 2015 that Arsenal have won both awards, with Wenger and Olivier Giroud claiming the respective awards that month.

He has become the first Arsenal player to claim the monthly award since former Chelsea captain and now Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in September 2019.

Odegaard topped an eight-man list that included Casemiro, Haaland, Ben Mee, Joao Palhinha, Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier and his teammate Bukayo Saka.

He told the Arsenal website: ‘It feels great. I’ve said many times that this team has a lot of young and hungry players and we played really well against each other, so it’s a pleasure to be here and be a part of what we’re doing now.

“It’s a pleasure to play with them and show my qualities, so I’m very happy to receive this award.”
