Mikel Arteta has reaffirmed his commitment to Arsenal and hit back at sensational reports in Spain claiming the Gunners boss could leave the club at the end of the season.
A out-of-the-blue report had claimed that the 41-year-old told those close to him that he was considering leaving the north London club.
But the Gunners manager has now spoken out about those reports and flatly denied the surprising claims, adding that they had also left him very upset.
‘No. That is completely fake news,” the 41-year-old said when asked about the reports. ‘What I read yesterday, I don’t know where it came from. I’m really angry about it.
‘I could not believe it. I don’t know where it comes from. I think we have to be very careful when you’re talking mainly about personal things.
He added: ‘I’m in the right place.’
On Sunday evening, sources close to Arsenal strongly denied there was any truth to the rumours.
Speaking about why he was angry about the shock reports, he added: ‘One is a consequence of the other. First of all, I am very careful when I talk about my personal things in public.
“If someone makes a statement about what we personally did. Secondly, because I don’t think anyone deserves to hear such news. I’ve always said the complete opposite. That’s why I’m upset.’
