Mike Tyson’s recent claims he ‘almost died’ to be probed by Texas boxing officials days before Jake Paul fight

Mike Tyson’s recent comments about a major health crisis he suffered earlier this year will be investigated by officials in Texas just days before his showdown with Jake Paul.
The 58-year-old revealed earlier this month that he had vomited blood before passing out during a medical emergency in May.
Tyson said he felt nauseous and dizzy on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, prompting airline staff to ask passengers if there was a doctor on board.
Paramedics later boarded the plane to treat Tyson after it landed in Los Angeles – with Iron Mike claiming he was ‘pooping tar’.
Tyson was taken straight to hospital and treated by a series of doctors, who, according to Iron Mike, refused to rule out the possibility of death.

During Netflix’s docuseries ahead of Tyson’s fight with Paul, the 58-year-old explained how doctors found a two-inch ulcer.
The fight was supposed to take place in July, but that incident forced them to postpone the proceedings.
Tyson said: “A week and a half ago I was training and it was going great. Then I started to feel tired. I explained it to my trainer: I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
“When I flew here from Miami, I went to the bathroom and threw up blood. The next thing I knew I was on the ground. I was shitting tar.
‘I went to the hospital and they discovered I had an ulcer. It was two and a half inches, it was bleeding. All my friends called me like I was dying.
‘I asked the doctor if I was going to die and she didn’t say no. She said we do have options. Then I got nervous.’
Iron Mike ended by saying, “I just wanted to get out of that damn hospital bed.” I don’t want to die in a hospital bed. I want to die in the ring. ‘
It has now been revealed that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation – which oversees the law – will investigate Tyson’s comments.
“Thorough pre-fight physical examinations will be conducted by TDLR-appointed physicians, who will discuss Mr. Tyson’s medical history with him,” a TDLR spokesperson told World Boxing News.

However, it is expected that Texas Licensing Regulators will not re-evaluate Tyson until the day before the fight takes place.
Therefore, there is a high risk that the fight will be canceled just 24 hours before Iron Mike steps back into the ring.
The outcome of the review could lead to the fight being downgraded from a professional fight to an exhibition or even canceled.
However, Tyson is confident the fight will go ahead as planned and insists he is prepared to dismantle Paul despite the suffering a medical emergency earlier this year.
Tyson gave up marijuana during training to fight Paul because it is on the list of banned substances used by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
He also revealed that he has temporarily stopped having sex as part of his training regime to ensure he is at his most dangerous on fight night.
“He only stopped to follow all the rules,” his publicist Joann Mignano recently told USA TODAY Sports.
“But he remains a strong believer in the medicinal benefits of cannabis for his personal well-being and for others like him.”
