The rules for the match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in Arlington, Texas on July 20 have been announced.

Paul and Tyson have announced they will fight in Dallas live on Netflix in what is being called the ‘biggest fight of the 21st century’.

It marks a sensational return to the ring for Tyson, who will be 58 by the time he fights the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer nicknamed ‘The Problem Child’.

The Paul-Tyson fight will be held at the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Texas, home of NFL team Dallas Cowboys.

Several details surrounding the fight – which both boxers want to label as a professional fight – remain unclear, but the rules have been announced.

Paul and Tyson will wear 16-ounce boxing gloves instead of the traditional 10-ounce gloves used in professional fights.

There will be two-minute rounds instead of the usual three-minute rounds, and there will be no official judges at ringside to score the fight.

The only way Paul or Iron Mike could win the fight would be if a knockout happened that night.

The majority of the rules – with the exception of glove weight – are the same as when Tyson took on Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition fight in November 2020.

As it stands, the undercard for the Paul vs. Tyson fight has not yet been discussed.

Speaking about the undercard, Tela Mange, communications manager for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, said it is not “unusual” to set a date and location before introducing the fighters.

“It’s quite common for a promoter to ask for a date several months later but not immediately provide the proposed card,” Mange told USA Today Sports.

“They want to make sure they have the date set with us because we need to make sure we have the right staffing for each event.

“The promoter will be required to submit proposed cards before we determine whether a particular bout can be considered an exhibition or a professional fight, or how a proposed exhibition can be structured.”

Mange also revealed how fighters over the age of 36 must undergo an electroencephalogram (EEG) and an electrocardiogram (ECG) before they can fight in the ring.
