- Tyson will take on Jake Paul this Friday evening at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas
- There is a 31-year age difference between Tyson, 58, and social media sensation Paul
- The pair hit the ring for an open workout on Tuesday night and Tyson shined
Mike Tyson came out with all the gloves and this was just the public training.
The last thing a great boxer loses is his punch and the thud of leather on the pads was as thunderous as ever.
But what was most striking was the hand speed of the combinations. If Iron Mike has slowed in that area at age 58, it’s imperceptible.
He even impressed himself, telling a crowd of several thousand people at the Toyota Motor plant that he went back to the gym the first day after signing the contract to fight YouTuber Jake Paul at Dallas Cowboys Stadium on Friday night: ‘ I thought what the f*** have I done?’
He then added, “I went through the process and I feel great now.”
Mike Tyson looked fierce in open training ahead of his fight with Jake Paul on Friday
By the end of his workout, the 58-year-old had taken off his top to reveal his impressive body
He took off his top to reveal a body as muscular as it was in his prime as a world champion. So when reminded that his family would all be ringside for the fight for centuries, he said, “My children will see that their father is someone very special.”
“They’ll also learn not to talk to me.”
The same lesson can also be taught to an opponent young enough to be his son, if Tyson connects with this kind of power he demonstrated here.
That said, Iron Mike left the venue early before Paul arrived to do his thing.
“Off to his Horlicks and to bed early,” said a smartass. “Whatever it takes, buddy.”
