Mike Pence sends message to Kamala Harris after certifying her loss… four years after his VERY different Jan 6
Former Vice President Mike Pence praised Vice President Kamala Harris for fulfilling her constitutional duty and certifying her election loss to President-elect Donald Trump.
In a message on
Pence was in the same position four years ago, albeit not the person at the top.
That role almost cost him his life.
The angry MAGA mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol as election certification was underway was particularly angry at Pence for not using his role to throw out Electoral College votes from swing states that narrowly edged out President Joe Biden.
Trump had falsely claimed that the election was stolen due to widespread voter fraud – “the big lie” that many of his supporters believed.
Supporters of the president set up a makeshift gallows and chanted “hang Mike Pence.”
During House committee hearings on January 6, it emerged that a confidential informant for the Proud Boys told the FBI that if members of the group had found Pence that day, they would have killed him.

Still, Pence refused to leave the Capitol and hid in a garage-like building that was considered a secure location within the complex.
“The vice president did not want to take any chances that the world would see the vice president of the United States flee the Capitol,” his vice president counselor Greg Jacob testified to committee members in 2022.
Yet his role on Jan. 6 — and certifying President Joe Biden’s election victory — threw Pence into the political wilderness.
He ran for president in the 2024 cycle, but his bid didn’t even last five months, as he dropped his bid for the White House in October 2023.
One of his aides, Olivia Troye, became a household name for her support of Harris.
The two Republicans who served on the Jan. 6 House committee — former Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger — also supported the Democratic nominee based on what they learned from their research.
Pence did not go that route.
Instead, his PAC paid for issue-oriented ads to help Republican candidates get out the vote while Pence sat out the race.

Before the election, Troye expressed frustration to DailyMail.com that Pence would not more explicitly support Harris after Trump’s rhetoric put his life in danger.
“I think his voice would be a powerful voice and make a difference,” she noted after appearing at a “Party Over Country” Harris event in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. “He knows better than anyone what Donald Trump really is.”
Pence’s decision to launch ads that could harm Democrats left the former Pence aide confused.
‘I actually don’t understand the purpose of those ads. “It was very mind-boggling, especially knowing the threat and danger that Donald Trump poses,” she added.
“I think he’s still trying to hold on to the bona fide values of a Republican Party, which, frankly, I think is gone,” Troye also said.
Pence continued to split the difference in his statement Monday.
“I welcome the return of order and civility in these historic events and offer my most sincere congratulations and prayers to President Donald J. Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance on their election to lead this great nation,” Pence said.
He called the peaceful transfer of power “the hallmark of our democracy” and applauded lawmakers and Harris for completing the task “without controversy or objection.”
“God bless our new President and Vice President and their families and may God continue to bless the United States of America,” he said in closing the statement.
