Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel gave another Tua Tagovailoa update while speaking to reporters.

According to McDaniel, Tagovailoa will not travel with the team to New York for this week’s game against the Jets. He also said the quarterback will not be placed on injured reserve so far.

“We’re still getting information and making progress,” McDaniel said before practice Friday.

McDaniel also gave a bit of an update on Tagovailoa’s condition, after he suffered a concussion during week four Thursday night football game.

“He went through the process diligently,” McDaniel said. ‘There are various external specialists that we also engage. And we’ll just take it from there, but glad you get to see it every day.

“And it’s nice when I walk down the hall and hear, ‘Waddup Beast?’ For whatever reason, he calls me “Beast” all the time. I don’t think I exude the beast vibe, but and we’ll just take it day by day.’

Until Tagovailoa is found fit to play again, which in all likelihood won’t be for a while, the Dolphins will be relying on backup QB Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater, who started for the Vikings and Saints while also playing for the Jets, played quite a bit in relief from Tagovailoa last week.

After making a comeback in the second against the Cincinnati Bengals, Bridgewater finished the game with 193 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
